By submitting an entry, each entrant agrees to the Art for Health rules. An entry should comply with all requirements set out in this section. Failure to do so will result in the disqualification of the entry.

You can enter the Art for Health contest by uploading your artwork (film, animation, painting or photograph) and filling in a few details about yourself on the 'Submit Entry' page.

The deadline for all submissions is 30 March 2018.

The winners for all the categories will be announced on 30 April 2018.

Eligibility Criteria

The Art for Health 2018 contest is only eligible to individuals between the ages of 18 and 30 years.
All entrants must currently reside in the UAE.

Art Category: Film/Animation

Contestants can submit a video in the form of a film or an animation.
The maximum duration is 1 minute and videos exceeding this limit will be disqualified.

Video file size requirements
All uploaded videos must be in mp4 format and the size of the file should ideally be around 20 MB. Please avoid using any watermarks.

Art Category: Painting or Photography

Contestants can submit a painting in any form (oil, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media) and a photograph in any format (film, polaroid, digital).

Painting or Photography requirements
All entries, without exception, must be in digital format and must meet the following specifications:

  • Each image must be a minimum of 72 dpi and 200 KB.
  • The shortest side of the image must be at least 338 pixels.
  • All entries must be JPG format.
  • Each image should not exceed 5MB and should be smaller than 7500 x 7500 pixels.

All submitted media for this year’s competition must address one of the following topics:

  • Reducing obesity rates among children and adolescents between 5-17 years
  • Reducing mortality rates from cardiovascular diseases
  • Reducing the incidence of diabetes

Rules for all categories

  • All entries must be in Arabic or English; submissions in English must have Arabic subtitles.
  • All entries must take into account the culture and customs of the UAE society. Entries that are offensive to any person, religion, race, country or institution within or outside the UAE will be immediately disqualified.
  • All entries must be accompanied by a summary of the media explaining the significance of the artwork. This summary should be a minimum of 250 characters and shall not exceed 500 characters.
  • All entries should not promote or advertise any product or company in any manner.
  • The content of any artwork, should be scientifically sound/ correct.
  • The artwork presented should not have been released or nominated, or entered in any other competition.
  • The artwork will be disqualified if it does not address the subject matter in the competition.

Evaluation of winning works

Entries in all the four categories will be evaluated through a public vote along with an independent technical committee.

Organiser

The Organiser of the Art for Health competition is the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.

Reproduction

The organizer owns the copyright of the winners’ artwork. The winners are not allowed to release, publish or use the artwork in any other competition inside or outside the UAE, before, during or after the competition is over, unless granted written approval by the Organizer.

Changes to the Rules

Art for Health reserves the right to modify the Rules without any prior notification. Any changes made will be posted on this website in the Rules section.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does Art for Health own the rights to any of the videos, paintings or photographs that I submit?

The organizer owns the copyright of the winners’ artwork. The winners are not allowed to release, publish or use the artwork in any other competition inside or outside the UAE, before, during or after the competition is over, unless granted a written approval by the Organizer.

What is the maximum duration of the video?

The winners will be announced at the HEALTH HUB on 30 April 2018. HEALTH HUB is an annual event that brings together professionals from the health sector and other fields to discuss important health issues.

The winners will also be featured on the Art for Health website.

How many artworks can I submit?

You can only submit one entry in each category (video, painting, and photography).

Who can participate in this competition?

This competition is only eligible to all UAE residents, nationals and expatriates, currently living in the country.
